Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tripmarks work offline?

Yes! Once places are saved to your device, you can view them, edit them, add photos, and take notes even without an internet connection. Changes will sync via iCloud when you're back online (if iCloud sync is enabled).

How do I open a place in Google Maps?

1. Open the place
2. Tap the "•••" menu button
3. Select "Open in Google Maps"
4. Google Maps will open with the place location

Can I export my places?

You can share all places in a collection as text using the "Share Collection" feature. Each place will include its title, address, URL, and notes.

Why can't I see my places on another device?

Make sure:
• You're signed in to the same iCloud account on both devices
• iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings
• Tripmarks has permission to use iCloud (Settings → iCloud → Tripmarks)
• You have an internet connection for initial sync

How much iCloud storage does Tripmarks use?

Storage usage depends on how many places you save and how many photos you attach. Text data (titles, addresses, notes) uses minimal space. Photos use more storage but are optimized for iCloud. You can check your Tripmarks storage usage in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Tripmarks.

Is my data private?

Yes! We don't have any servers collecting your data. All your places are stored either:
• Locally on your device (encrypted by iOS)
• In your private iCloud account (encrypted by Apple)

We cannot access your places or photos. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

Troubleshooting

The Share Extension isn't showing up

1. In Safari, tap the Share button
2. Scroll to the end of the row and tap "More" or "Edit Actions"
3. Find "Tripmarks" and enable it
4. Optionally drag it to reorder it higher in the list

Import from Google Maps isn't working

Make sure:
• You have an internet connection
• The Google Maps URL is complete (includes /maps/place/ or ?q=)
• You're using the Share Extension from Safari, not the Google Maps app

If issues persist, try copying the URL and adding it manually in Tripmarks.

Photos aren't uploading to iCloud

• Check that you have sufficient iCloud storage available
• Ensure iCloud Photos is enabled in iOS Settings → Photos
• Connect to Wi-Fi for faster uploads
• Check that Low Power Mode isn't preventing uploads

The app crashed or isn't working properly

1. Force close the app (swipe up from multitasking)
